What are Spot UV Postcards?

Spot UV is one of the most popular coating methods that require a professional to apply high-gloss UV coating to a postcard. Research studies have confirmed that UV light cures the varnish of printed material, giving a postcard a vibrant aesthetic, shiny appearance, and a protective layer to prevent damage.

Colors Appear Shiny and Vibrant

The primary reason to choose spot UV postcards is that the colors, including PMS and CMYK hues, appear shiny and vibrant, drawing more attention to the “spots” or targeted areas.

For example, a spot UV finish applied to your business logo will appear nicer, glossier, shinier, and more vibrant. So, this helps your business stand out and improves your brand identity.

Add Protective Layer

Spot UV postcards use ultraviolet light to cure the coating applied to the gloss or varnish. It seals the colors’ vividness and adds a protective layer to the finished postcard. UV coating varies from a highly reflective shine to a glossier look.

In addition, spot UV postcards have a protective coating applied to specific areas. When these spots contact UV light, the coating dried quickly and efficiently, enabling the designers to get creative and produce a lovely postcard.

So, spot UV is an excellent way to lock in the gloss and colors while adding a protective touch over specific spots on the postcard. The protective layer prevents the postcard from being damaged and increases its overall lifespan.

High Clarity and Readability

Postcards finished with spot UV coating are attractive, eye-catching, and vibrant, thanks to the lustrous shine under direct and subdued lighting. Hiring a professional printing service like Guru Printers can produce aesthetically pleasing postcards with a touch of sophistication to help you achieve your marketing goals.

Although the spot UV technique adds a glossier look to the postcards, it requires a careful design to make the content easy to read. Therefore, hiring a professional service is crucial to get the best of both worlds and have a unique look that grabs people’s attention with legibility at a distance.

Smudge Protection and Ecofriendly

People love postcards because they are attractive with vibrant colors and innovative designs. However, when you distribute the traditional postcards, the design may get marred by fingerprints and smudges.

On the other hand, spot UV coating applied to the postcard by Guru Printers can prevent smudges, fingerprints, and other damages due to a protective layer between the material and constant handling.

Moreover, spot UV coating is precise and stays firm. In simple words, it does not escape into the air, making it a healthier and eco-friendlier coating option for businesses to make their marketing strategies more sustainable.

Durable and Long-Lasting Finish

Spot UV postcards involve applying the printing or coating in specific patterns. Guru Printers applies the layer to selected areas against the background based on your requirements. The standard UV printing is a cutting-edge technique available with high-tech printing machines at Guru Printers.

We have a team of professionals with extensive knowledge of installing UV lights onto the printing machines to speed up the drying process. The purpose is to produce crisp, clear, attractive, and durable postcards with a long-lasting finish. So, postcards with spot UV coating are hard-wearing.

Moreover, a quick drying process means the artwork designs and inks have resistance to fingerprints, smudges, and abrasions. So, you achieve a high-quality and shiny design and get a product that stands the test of time, allowing your customers to reuse them.

Appealing to the Eyes

Spot UV coating technique is slightly costly and time-consuming. However, the results are worth your money and time because the postcards printed with this method appeal to the eyes and streamline your marketing strategy.

For instance, postcards with spot UV coating make a lasting impression on your target audience. You can use this promotional material to compete with other brands and prevent you from spending thousands of dollars on digital marketing.

  1. Use the CMYK colorspace (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, blacK). These are industry standard printing colors. CMYK colors are different than RGB (Red, Green, Blue), which are used to display colors on your screen.
  2. Use a minimum resolution of 300 dpi for image files.
  3. Specify trim area with crop marks. (Don’t place crop marks inside the work area.)
  4. Artwork should have 1/8″ (0.125″) bleed extending past the trim line. This is to prevent minor cutting variations from leaving unintended results at the trim edge.
  5. Safe Area is the 1/8″ (0.125″) area inside the trim line. Do not put critical information or images within the Safe Area. This is to prevent minor cutting variations from leaving unintended results at the trim edge.
  6. If you want printed borders, they must be placed a minimum of 1/8″ (0.125″) inside the trim line and include bleed. This is to prevent minor cutting variations from leaving unintended results at the trim edge.
